Refugee IA introduced its Deported People Assistance Program (DPAP) as a response to the plethora of people who have remained in the states illegally over the years, who have or will have found themselves deported or deportable and often in very precarious, unbalanced, cash-strapped, unfamiliar and even dangerous or life-threatening situations that no decent human-being would even wish for his/her worst enemy.

Many immigrants from all walks of life who have emigrated to the U.S. as visitors, refugees or otherwise, have simply become too accustomed to the ways of developed especially since most haven't been able to travel. Consequently, many may experience mental distress, and some may even end their lives if they don't find any financial or emotional support. Moreover, due to of emotional, financial or legal support many have (or will have) been deported to unfamiliar and underdeveloped countries (when facing the best-of-two-evils options), which further exacerbates their situation.
